The Building Process

1

Meet with our Design Team

The initial meeting allows you to get familiarized with Don Savage Builders, team members, and to determine what your goals are regarding your new home. During the initial discussion, we will show you previously completed Don Savage Builders homes as well as homes in progress. In addition, we will encourage you to speak with previous custom home clients, the best way to determine the quality and craftsmanship that goes into every Don Savage Built Home. We will also determine cost estimates and an idea of approximate starting and completion dates.

2

Secure Financing - We Can Help!

contract signing

Our mortgage lender will work with you to get the best lot loan, construction loan, and permanent financing upon completion. For more than 30 years Don Savage Builders has worked with local and national lenders that provide our clients with the highest level of customer service. We will work with you to determine what makes the most sense for your new home.

3

Create Building Plans

Create building PlansHome plans can come from many different sources. You can start with a blank sheet of paper, a concept of what you want, a home plan from a set of books, or a home plan that you have purchased. Wherever you are in the home planning process, Don Savage Builders can help you. Don Savage Builders has full CAD capabilities and can work with you to create your house plan. In addition, Don Savage Builders regularly uses architects and/or engineers who can also assist you in the design process. By working with you and/or your architect during the design process, Don Savage Builders can make suggestions that will save you substantially on your home building costs.

4

Choose Amenities & Finished Items

Once you have a set of house plans selected, it is time to pick out the finish items. To truly customize your custom home, the most important selections for the client to make are the finish items. Finish items include the faucets, fixtures, appliances, etc. The final selections of these items will be made as we progress into the building process. At Don Savage Builders, our allowances are very generous. We utilize local and national suppliers to help our clients get the best prices and do not give unreasonably low allowances in order to keep our upfront building quotes lower.

5

Break Ground - Construction Begins!

Ground BreakingOnce construction begins, we will work with you to make sure you are updated throughout the building process and encourage our clients to visit the job site regularly to ensure that you have sufficient time to make all the necessary decisions to customize your home. The most unique thing you will notice at a Don Savage Builders job site is the builder himself. The builder is present at every Don Savage Builders job site every day. We only take on a limited number of projects each year so we can maintain this high level of quality control.

6

Approve Progress (Mid-Construction Walk Through)

Mid-Construction Walk Through

In addition to this regular interaction, we schedule a job-site visit with the homeowner prior to the sheet rock being hung. The builder and homeowner will walk through every room in the house and discuss current structure and future additions. There will be no contractors present during this visit to assure a quiet, safe and enjoyable meeting. The builder will also discuss placement of utilities, plumbing issues, heating and cooling equipment locations and anything that will not be as apparent once the house is complete. We find this meeting very helpful for the client to really get to know their home.

7

Construction is Complete - Move in and Enjoy!

Your new custom home is completed and ready for you to move in. We will walk you through your home, explain all the features, and answer any questions you may have. We make ourselves available to you as you live in the home and do our best to make the custom home building process as quick, efficient and smooth as possible. We want to help you build the home of your dreams!
